This page records, with dates, what changes in PhotoCut Studio: new features, fixes and improvements to the site and the guides. Entries run from newest to oldest and come from the project's real change history.
Fewer guides, actually tested
We merged overlapping guides (from 75 to 60 in total, 20 per language) and left 301 redirects from the old URLs.
Every guide now has “We tested it”: real measurements made with PhotoCut in Chrome, with date, version and reproducible data.
Every guide shows its real update date, and this changelog now exists.
Editor: fixed magic wand, “Crop area” and better accessibility
The magic wand now removes the area you click (it used to do the opposite). “Box” was renamed “Crop area” and onboarding starts with AI Cutout.
The editor works with the keyboard (“Open photo” is reachable with Tab) and on phones: tabs in two rows with 44 px touch targets.
The AI model notice states the real size (~7 MB) and shows download progress; the batch ZIP waits until processing finishes.
Site: our own hero, legal pages in three languages and faster on phones
The home page shows the before and after of a cutout made with the editor itself on our own illustration; the tool hubs include real product screenshots.
Privacy and Terms now exist in English and Portuguese, and every page shares the same trust footer.
Self-hosted fonts instead of Google Fonts and ads loaded after the page: mobile LCP on the home page dropped from 4.2 s to 2.4 s.
Visible author, breadcrumbs, menu, RSS and 404
Author pages in all three languages with a real photo, a byline on every guide and Person structured data.
Breadcrumbs (with structured data) on the guides, a main menu on every static page and an RSS feed of the guides.
Guide images optimized (−58 % weight) and a custom 404 page.
Complete guides in English and Portuguese, with our own screenshots
Between July 28 and 29 we completed the guides in all three languages (25 per language at the time), with hreflang between versions.
The guides use real, localized screenshots of the tools, and /editor/ has indexable content below the app.
The About and Contact pages were added in English and Portuguese.
“Edit” hub: faces, filters, watermark and annotations
The text tab became “Edit” and brings together adding text, blurring faces, filters and adjustments, watermarks and annotating with shapes and arrows.
Face detection runs in your browser with a 227 KB model; you can also censor by hand by dragging over any region.
There are dedicated pages for blurring faces and for image filters (in Spanish and English).
Convert, compress and resize
The File tab converts between PNG, JPG and WebP, compresses, and resizes by pixels or percentage with the aspect ratio locked.
Dedicated compress and resize pages (in Spanish and English) and security headers across the site.
Color Studio, text on photos, metadata and a site in three languages
Color Studio: light and dark themes generated from a screenshot, palettes with a CSS/Tailwind scheme, histogram, color blindness simulator and WCAG contrast checker.
New tools: add text to a photo, blurred background (portrait effect) and an EXIF metadata viewer with metadata-free download.
Pages per tool and per background color in Spanish, English and Portuguese, with hreflang between versions.
Home page split from the editor, and cookieless analytics
The home page (/) is now a lightweight static page and the editor lives at /editor/.
We measure visits with Umami, with no cookies and no consent banner.
Batch processing and expanded guides
AI cutout of several images in sequence and a single ZIP download.
Five guides expanded with FAQs and four new guides.
Own domain and SEO foundations
The site moves to photocutapp.com, with sitemap, canonical URLs, robots.txt, structured data and Open Graph.
Google AdSense advertising is integrated (script and ads.txt).
100 % local AI cutout and Icon Studio
Automatic cutout runs in your browser (u2netp model with onnxruntime-web), without uploading the photo to any server.
Added the before/after comparison, canvas zoom and pan, and Icon Studio to generate app icons.
First web release
GrabCut engine written in Rust and compiled to WebAssembly running on the web, interface in Spanish, English and Portuguese, and a PWA that works offline.
